Martin blends legal expertise and business strategy to counsel municipalities, organizations, developers, and high-profile professionals in a wide range of complex transactions.
Martin serves as general counsel to townships and housing authorities, guiding municipal clients through governance, compliance, procurement, housing regulation, and complex public-sector transactions.
Martin takes pride in educating and leaving positive impressions on our youth and has done so since his days at Morehouse College. As a public speaker, Martin has been invited to speak at numerous high schools, special events, and organizations about the impact of education on our youth and knowing your civil rights. He has been interviewed on local television networks, radio talk shows, and appeared as a guest on the NAACP radio talk show “Voices of the Village.”
Prior to joining Ancel Glink, P.C., Martin was the founder of Walker Law Firm, LLC, and developed a diverse, boutique practice, and has always enjoyed serving the Lake County community. He served as the Administrative Adjudication Hearing Officer and Deputy Liquor License Commissioner to the City of Waukegan for 5 years, and often substituted as the hearing officer for Antioch, Beach Park, and the City of North Chicago.
Martin currently serves as Waukegan Township Attorney and provides general counsel services to the Waukegan Housing Authority. During the mortgage crisis and downfall of the real estate market, he served as a volunteer for the Keep Your Home mortgage modification workshop hosted by the Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago. In academia, he held the title of lecturer/researcher at the University of Wisconsin, Parkside teaching Race, Crime, and Law. Martin’s prior experience includes holding positions as Executive Board member of Lions’ Mathematics and Science Christian Academy, of counsel to the Waukegan Park District, and Vice-Chairman of the Lake County Sheriff’s Merit Commission.
Martin serves on the board of directors of several not-for-profit entities including Inspire Youth and Family Services, the Eddie Washington Center, is a founding member of the HBCU Alumni Choir, and has established 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status for several organizations.
Martin also currently represents a shortlist of celebrity clientele including TV personalities and executive level athletes.
