Marcus has extensive experience and has been handling the defense of Illinois workers’ compensation cases on behalf of third-party administrators, insurance companies and self-insureds for almost 20 years, at all levels from Arbitration through the Appellate Court.

Marcus Schantz is an associate attorney at Ancel Glink, concentrating his practice in workers’ compensation defense. He represents public and private employers with a strong focus on strategic advocacy, thorough case preparation and practical litigation insight.

Marcus earned his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Texas at Austin with a major and minor in Anthropology and Microbiology, respectively. He earned his Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law. Marcus is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois and is a member of the Federal Trial Bar. Over his career, he has handled complex matters in both state and federal court and built a reputation for steady courtroom presence, persuasive advocacy and deep commitment to achieving favorable results for his clients.

Prior to his work in civil litigation, Marcus was active in criminal law and forensic science. He was a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and served on the Illinois State Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section Council where he reviewed proposed legislation and contributed to legal discussions and policy related to the criminal justice system.
