Erin M. Monforti
Associate
Erin has a distinctive understanding of the legal and practical issues facing local governments in Illinois.
Erin’s love for local government started as an undergraduate student at Illinois Institute of Technology studying Social & Economic Development Policy with a concentration in Urban & Regional Studies. At Illinois Tech, she gained invaluable experience in policy analysis and problem solving, including a study of how tax-increment financing funds have historically been reinvested in the City of Chicago. This exposure to local issues led to her first job working in the Economic Development division for a large and diverse municipality in Illinois. From there, she transitioned to her dual role as legal intern and FOIA officer in an in-house local government attorney’s office. She quickly learned that her interests in policymaking and law could shape her future career as a zealous advocate for communities.
Erin attended Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor degree and a certificate in Workplace Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution. Erin has worked in multiple roles linked to local government, including as a Mayoral Policy Fellow for the City of Chicago and a law clerk at Ancel Glink before joining the firm after law school. She excels at assisting communities in achieving their policy and development goals with a thoughtful, future-oriented perspective and a keen awareness of potential legal hurdles to be overcome.
In her free time, Erin enjoys volunteering as a tutor with Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, baking, riding her bike around Chicago, listening to public radio and podcasts, and spending time with family and friends.
