In a village with a president and six trustees, how many votes are required to approve an annexation agreement?
Under Section 11-15.1-3 of the Municipal Code, annexation agreements must be approved by a vote of two-thirds of the corporate authorities then holding office. In a village with a president and six trustees, 5 votes are required to approve an annexation agreement. Since Section 11-15.1-3 requires a supermajority vote of the corporate authorities, the village president is entitled to vote on annexation agreements.
